Bishops Hike

Saturday the Bishop of our ward took the YM/YW on a hike. They do this every year and this was my first one. Apparently last year they hiked like a mile straight up the Mtn. Glad we didn't do that this time. :)

This year he took us to the City of Rocks. It was awesome! We could not have asked for better weather! It was about 70 degrees. Clear blue skies. A slight breeze, just enough to keep the air moving. I think everyone needs to visit this place!

I think we all had a great time. Well i did for sure. And i think Kevin & I are going to go back this next weekend.

So here are some pics. Enjoy!

Group Shot

Shari put my hair in braids. loved them!

me trying to get a 'self shot'

this sign just cracked me up.

And we're hiking....

There were beautiful wild flowers. Here are just a few.

backyard flowers

These are some pics of the Poppies
&
purple flowers that are blooming on our Chive plant.

Sprinklers part 2

So they came and finally finished our sprinklers and seeding. I didn't get alot of good pics and they are taken thru our dirty office room window. But it was so exciting. I was so giddy. Now i am impatiently waiting for our grass seed to grow. I wish we could have done sod. that would have been awesome. But it will be nice to see the seeds sprout. Now if they'd just hurry and do that.
Hole for a sprinkler...see it laying next to the hole
A worker digging in our planter so he can install a drip line.

Seeding & Raking

Fixing the sprinkler heads so they point in the right direction
and spray in the right areas.

That night we moved our berry bushes to the back planter.

When we were preparing that planter we ran into this
Big 'A' Rock! It's SO heavy! It's still sitting on our Patio.
My shoe is there to show the size of the rock.
That is a size 8 womens shoe.

braids

So we went on a hike today with the YM/YW and my friend Shari was braiding a few of the girls hair. So i said something about mine and she said we could totally give it a try. So i ran to my bag and got out my 'hair things' and away she went. I love them! She went to the side (the way i part my hair) instead of doing a part right down the middle.

THANKS SHARI!
be prepared to do it the whole week of Girls Camp!

Face Lift

The Spring house improvements are still in progress....and will be for awhile. We decided since Kevin doesn't want a screen-door, which i would love to have, we would paint the front door. We knew we wanted it to compliment the house (i use to want a red door, and that was OUT of the question in Kevin's mind). So we picked out loads of samples of brown paint. We stuck them all on the door and started eliminating them pretty quickly.

So without further ado.
Here is yesterday's adventure...

*Before shot of front door
actually from last summer -
first one i could find.

*sheet hanging in door to block out critters
outside view

*Inside view

*Kev "de-gooping" around the window
there was the sticky seal stuff that stuck outside the frame of the window

*Kev posing nicely for me during the
"de-gooping" phase

*First Paint!

*painting in progress
see that nice tape job?! that was all me!

*close up of my tape job
Ya, i'm that good! ;)

** FINISHED DOOR!!! **

We love it!
So now we are the little Brown house with the Brown Door.
Does it scream, "The Brown's live here?!" :)

*my friend Sarah B told me that her neighbor painted her door 5 times because every-time she pulled up to the house the lighting was different and the color was off and she didn't like it.

I think we got it RIGHT the first time!
