kind of a short week

Well, this is the start of a "short week" for work. We do have Friday July 4th off of work, but we will be in a Parade that day (for work)! So I'm not sure if i need to take a "holiday" for that day. Not too excited about that but we can at least toss A LOT of candy & otter pops to our family and friends that are at the Rupert 4th of July Parade. Hint hint Tiffany & Donny if you are going to be in town on Friday!!! ;)

Also, this week is KEVIN'S BIRTHDAY WEEK!! His b-day is Thursday July 3rd. So i will be making his b-day treat for work. Which i made this weekend, to practice. Good thing i did practice because now i know what i am up against. LOL. I'll post the recipe and pictures later. It's a GREAT summer treat. I'll have it up in time for 4th of July, incase any of you want to try it out.

We went to the Parade of Home this weekend. We weren't very impressed with a lot of the houses. There were things we liked in some of the houses, but a lot more we didn't like. I would NEVER pay the price they wanted for some of these houses ($699,900). Especially here in Twin, because i don't know if you'd make your $$ back on selling them or how you would afford them! It's not like people make the big bucks here. They were also on the smallest lots i think you could purchase. NO yards whatsoever!

Well i guess i should work. I am tired this morning. I got up and swam before work. It was nice! I think I'll try to do that everyday. Just 20 minutes is all i did. I have also signed up for another month of my workout class. I am LOVING IT!! I even talk to the teacher on Friday about what i might do to help some "problem spots". :)

Movie Review

Be Kind Rewind: It was pretty funny, i guess. Kevin though it was more funny then i did. I am glad we saw it. It does have a heart warming ending. Jack Black is crazy/silly Jack Black. I don't know if it's one that I'd watch over and over again.

The Other Boleyn Girl: I enjoyed this one. It was way more interesting then Kevin thought it was going to be. I think he thought it was going to be more like "Pride & Prejudice". Yeah it's not! LOL. I thought they all gave great performances. I'd watch it again.

The Work & The Glory #1: I have been VERY hesitant to watch this movie. I LOVE the books, i have read them twice and would read them again. I am disappointed in some of the "looks" of the characters. You get ideas in your head of what these people look like and then you are disappointed. But IF you have NOT read the books, you wouldn't have that problem. They really did a good job of converting the book to the movie. Obviously things were changed, but for the most part i was very pleased with it. I am looking forward to watching #2.

house

We drove by the house last night after work. Not much really had changed, but stuff was delivered. Such as the shingles for the roof and the heating duct stuff. They've had the paper on the roof of the house since like Weds-Thurs last week. So i was HOPING it would have been finished by now. Oh well.

We were driving over to Hollywood Video to rent some movies on Friday night and we drove by this sign. I thought it was an interesting message. So i hurried and got the camera and had Kevin take a picture. They always have different sayings on their sign.

pet peeve of mine...

OK, i know it's really dumb of me, but it drives me CRAZY when people go in or out of the wrong door at stores!! For example:

Our Walmart in Jerome has BIG letters above the doors saying ENTER & EXIT. This is for ease of coming and going, so people aren't being ran into and such. Well today i was at Walmart to return a defective bottle of hair moose (i know there is a U in there somewhere, but i don't want to find out the spelling) and there was a good number of us going IN the ENTER door. There was this lady with her cart just standing there waiting for us to get out of her way. I believe it was a child of hers, who was standing at the EXIT door, asked "what are you doing?" The lady with the cart replied "i am trying to go out this door". WHAT THE HECK?!?! Walk the two feet to the EXIT door and get out of the way for us using the CORRECT door to enter the store!!!

house update

So we met with Shawn over at our subdivision on Monday to walk through our house with him, since we had a few questions. It was good to go through with him and work out a few things and be reassured that things were going good. They are going to fix our back patio, since they screwed up on it. So that will be nice. They are getting the shower/tub thing fixed. We asked if they are still thinking that the end of July will work for closing...yeah he didn't sound so confident on that. So i am very sure we will be mid/end of August when we get in. Which will be OK, so it will give us time to pick out paint and such. :) We don't have the camera today, so we'll have to take some pictures tomorrow. Not much has been done on the outside, they are working more on the inside. I drove by at lunch time and the "spare bathroom" had the tub/shower in and plumbing is done through out the house. YEAH! So it shouldn't be long before we do our electrical walk through to tell them were we'd like plugs and things to go. YAY!!!!

Roof Completed

We've got a completed roof!! YEAH!!!

You couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day on Friday! They also delivered two tubs to the house which is a good and bad thing. GOOD cause they are moving right along. BAD because we shouldn't have two tubs! We should have one tub and one stand up shower. So, we need to find out what is going on.

I was getting really frustrated that they hadn't done anything since last Friday.
Well yesterday brought a fun surprise! YAY!!!

Our climb

So Kevin & I have decided to participate in a company challenge of "Biggest Loser". I think I have mentioned it not to long ago in another post. This is the beginning of week 2 of that. But we have been going for a "walk" for the past 5 weeks or so. I don't like calling it a "walk" because it's more of a CLIMB! We park our car at the top of the canyon (see red arrow in picture) and go down and around the pavilion and back out. It's killer coming out! But it's so great when you get out and you look how far you went. It's almost 2.5 miles round trip. We have now started jogging it. Kevin jogs much more of it then i do - like the whole thing. But i did somewhere around 1/3-1/2 of the trail jogging back up it last night. I thought i was gonna have a heart attack, but it's a good feeling of accomplishment. Kevin does this trail about every day. I do it 4 out of the 7 days of the week. I have started taking a "Total Body Workout" Class. WHICH I LOVE!!! So i do that the other three days of the week. If we aren't doing our "walk" we go on our 7mile bike ride. I love being able to take advantage of the warmer weather. Because i know Fall is going to come in fast!

Got Our Tickets!!!

So the tickets have "gone on sale" for the Twin Falls, Idaho LDS Temple Open House, as of this morning at 10am. I got online at 10:05 am and got our tickets!! My parents are coming up for it and for a little vacation the week of July 20-26. I am so excited for them to come. I wish my sisters were able to make it for a visit. But hopefully Kevin and I will "go home" to CA for Christmas this year. I am crossing my fingers!!!!! Though Natalie and her boys won't be there. :( We missed them, they were home last Christmas.

House Friday

So before leaving for Rexburg on Friday we stopped by the house. They got a lot accomplished. So lets hope today (Monday) they get those trusses standing up. :) It's supposed to be a BEAUTIFUL day today. So get working guys!!!!

updates

So I have more pictures to post, but that will have to wait till next week because we are leaving tonight for Rexburg (from work)!!! I am so excited. We are going to stay with our friends the Larsen's for the weekend. Our main purpose of going up is to attend the wedding of Kevin's cousin Amy in the Rexburg Temple. I am VERY excited to go back in there! We are going to try to see some other people while we are up there. Gonna see Tiff & Donny and Taryn. Of course we HAVE to go to Mom's Kandy Kitchen. We love Florence. She is the mom of our friend Kerry M. from when we lived in Alhambra CA. Small world, huh? If you are ever in the area, you need to stop. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

A few girls from work and I have started taking a "Total Body Fitness" class at the Jerome Rec. Center. It's three nights a week, tonight is class #3. I LOVE IT!!! I am SO glad that Kevin said i could do it. I hope to get in shape enough to look "decent" at Keith's wedding at the end of Aug. I need/want to buy a new dress for it, but i want it to be in a slimmer size! What really prompted us taking this class was we at work have started a "Biggest Loser" competition. We have three teams and we weigh in each Monday. 5 out of the 7 on my team are girls! We are all taking this class! WOO HOO! Hopefully we will win. One team is STACKED with guys. So it will be tough.

Kevin and I have also started "climbing" (walking) down and back out of the canyon by our house. I have a picture to post of that, so you'll see next week. If we don't walk/jog...then we at least ride our bikes the 7 mile route we like along the canyon rim. I will miss that when we move to Jerome. But i will sacrifice that for OUR HOUSE!! Which below you can see is FINALLY coming along!

house update

WE HAVE (PARTIAL) WALLS!!!! and a driveway, and side walk, and....WE ARE SO EXCITED!!

This is what the house looked like as Kevin drove by last night at about 5:30pm. When i went by at lunch time there wasn't quite that much. YEAH!!!!!! I won't bore you now with the other pics i haven't posted. We missed the step of just having the flooring down. That was Wednesday and of course we didn't have our camera. So all these walls went up in one day!

Yesterday at work he was drawing a cartoon for one of the Ag Magazine's our company publishes and he had a co-worker take some pics of him to use as reference for this cartoon. I don't know what is happening in the cartoon, but i thought this was a hilarious picture! For me to be able to post this picture i had to promise Kevin a foot rub last night. Well...i fell asleep. lol. oops. I guess I'll have to pay up tonight!

I've got lots of other pics and things to tell you about, but it will have to wait till tonight. I am going to be LATE getting ready for work.

House Updates

Well, we haven't been over to see the house since last Friday. It's been raining here off and on for the past 3 days, so I'm sure NOTHING has been done. But here are pics from last Friday.

They have the forms up to pour the driveway. YEAH!!!

From our drive way on the other street directly across (through the block) from us is going to be our friends the Merritt's! YEAH!! We are at the same stage of building, but they have their lumber already there and waiting to be put up. Hope you don't mind Em that i put that up! :)

Onion Ring Recipe

Homemade Onion Rings

Saturday for lunch we decided to try making some homemade Onion Rings. I LOVE onion rings. So i found a recipe online that was simple and we had everything for. So here are pictures in the process of making them and then the final product. We really liked them and plan on making them again!

Caffeine

I got this off a Health email i am starting to get. I thought it was interesting. I never thought of it that way. I don't drink coffee, but i do love my Pepsi! Part of my fertility problem is issues with insulin resistance. So i guess i have some changing i need to do!!

Caffeine Before Breakfast May Increase Risk of Type 2 Diabetes

Drinking caffeinated coffee before eating low-sugar cereal at breakfast may increase the risk of type 2 diabetes in some people, according to researchers at the University of Guelph in Canada.

They had male volunteers drink caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee one hour before they ate cereals with low or moderate levels of sugar, United Press International reported.

Among those who ate the low-sugar cereal, blood sugar levels jumped 250 percent higher after they had caffeinated coffee, compared to when they had decaffeinated coffee. The study was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

"Caffeine interferes with our body's response to insulin. It makes us resistant to insulin which in turn makes our blood-sugar levels go higher," said researcher Terry Graham, UPI reported.

People at risk for type 2 diabetes should be cautious and consider drinking decaffeinated coffee, Graham suggested.
