my sneaky parents

So my parents are coming up this weekend for the whole week of Labor Day. I was expecting them tomorrow late evening. Well i called my mom at 12 noon "their time" and i asked why she was answering my dads cell phone. She said "i just picked it up." So i said "where are you?" Mom replied " uh, right now i don't know" I said "how can you not know where you are, have you left already? I didn't think you wanted to drive through the desert in the heat of the day." She said "well we aren't" Then all of a sudden she says "oh, we are pulling into Nephi" "WHAT? YOU ARE IN NEPHI (Utah) ALREADY??!!!" was my reply. So i'm guessing they might actually be HERE in a matter of an hour or two. Crazy people (that i do love dearly), trying to "surprise" me! Now i might not have the house picked up before they come, not that there's alot to do mind you. But i have NO FOOD in the house. So, this will be my last post until i come back to work on Monday Sept 10th! I love vacation time. So i hope you have a Fantastic Holiday and make it a safe one. I'll tell you all about my adventure's when i return. Much Love!

just a little funny...

9 WORDS WOMEN USE

1. Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

2. Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3. Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine (refer to #1).

4. Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

5. Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but it is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing.)

6. That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7. Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you're welcome.

8. Whatever: Is a women's way of saying "SCREW" YOU!

9. Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "What's wrong?" For the woman's response refer to #3.

Weekend in Twin Falls

So i got to see Kevin this weekend. WHOOOO HOOOO!!!! I was so excited to see him. It was very hard leaving him on Sunday. I was a bawl baby. But I'm doing good today.

Friday night we went to dinner with Jeff & Barbara at this pizza place in Twin Falls called Gerties. It is SO yummmy! I love going to that place! I was trying to get Kevin's parents to come to dinner (and pay...hee hee) but Doug is on call for the City, so they couldn't come out. Oh well.

Saturday we did some house hunting and actually found a place that we really liked. So we are hoping all goes well and that we can get that place. It's brand new, actually not even finished yet, it's the same size we have now, but it's a HOUSE not a town home so we'd have a FULL YARD!! WOO HOO! Kevin is excited thinking he gets to mow a lawn and have a garden, i want the garden too. LOL. I think we may have found someone that is very interested in our place, so PLEASE keep your fingers crossed for us. I really hope it works out.

We also drove by the Twin Falls Temple. It's a bit behind the Rexburg one, and it's totally smaller then the Rexburg one too! But it will still be nice to have one in town! Here are some pictures i took.

Kevin will be home this weekend. He will actually be home for 4 days! With the holiday on Monday and he is taking Tuesday off as well. My parents come up from So. Cal. this Friday and will be spending the week with us (me). I am really looking forward to their visit. Should be fun.

So i guess that's about it from here. I am feeling MUCH better than i was the past week. Thank goodness! Happy Monday everyone.

A Day at Home

So i still wasn't feeling all that great this morning (still). So i stayed home today to rest. Well i did do a bit of laying around (reading) but i also made TEN loaves of Zucchini bread! Rochelle gave us some HUGH zucchini's from her garden and I've been meaning to make them over a weekend, well it never happened. So i figured today is a better then any. I had the oven going from 10am to 3:30pm and the house hasn't gotten warmer then 68 degrees inside (windows have been open all day). I LOVE THIS COOL WEATHER!!!!

Cave Falls

Saturday we had the Larsen's & Taryn & Alex over from some Hamburgers. Then the Larsen's and us went to Cave Falls. Alex & Taryn are training for a marathon, so they went for an 11 miles run. NO THANK YOU! It rained the whole drive up there, and not just little rain drops either. But as soon as we got close, it stopped. The weather was partly cloudy, cool and hardly any bugs. Though Rochelle and I still some how got bitten by misquito's. We had fun playing in the cold water, skipping rocks and going on one of the trails for awhile. Kevin was teaching the boys to throw trees and sticks into the water and watch them go down the falls. Kevin's back was a bit sore on Sunday. I wonder why. LOL.

Kevin & I at Cave Falls.
The Larsen's (Eric & Rochelle, Robbie Kamren & David)
On our drive back from the falls, we saw this mama & baby mule deer. They were probably about 50 yards off the road. It was really cool. We also saw an owl, but didn't get a picture of it because our camera battery had died. I guess i should have charged it. Oops. Plus TONS of free range cattle all over the roads.
Then we got back to our place, ate some pizza and then went swimming. It was a good but busy day. It seemed like people were treating it like a "going away party" since kevin was leaving Sunday to go start his new job and they didn't know when they would see him again.

Where are my keys?!?!

I had to run up to campus for a minute this morning and so i decided to do a soda run for Kathy & I. On my way i was talking to my sister Carolyn. Well i am parked in Horkley's parking lot and i turned off the car and took out the keys. We finish our conversation and then i grab my change, my cup to refill and go inside. Well i fill up our drinks, pay and go to leave and i couldn't find my keys. Well sure enough they were sitting on the front passenger seat in my LOCKED car! I couldn't tell you the last time i locked my keys in my car. I actually don't know if i've even done it before! So i go inside and they let me use their phone, mine is locked in the car too, and so i call Jeff over at Christensen Auto Shop and he tells me it will be $20, i said that's fine. He comes over and gets in the car in a matter of 2 minutes! It was crazy! Kind of scary knowing how fast someone could get into my car if they have the right tools. He said on the phone he had a brick that would get me in, but i opted not for the brick. LOL. Here is the real kicker...I DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY HIM! He said it was fine and that he needed a break to get away from the shop. I need to do something nice for him. :)

Kevin left last night for Twin to start his new job. I am very curious how it's going. I hope he likes it. I can't wait to see him Friday night! We really haven't been away from each other too much during our marriage, so this is going to be interesting for both of us!

Goodbye Studio....Hello Cows!

Not many of you know that Kevin was given "two weeks notice" from his job at the Studio back on July 16th. They don't have enough business to be able to pay him. I wish the studio all the best of luck, but i don't know if it's going to last very long. Kevin has now been offically unemployed for the past two weeks. Well after lots of applications and one interview, he was offered a new job! We are so very grateful that it wasn't too much longer then that. Kevin will be starting Monday at his new job as a Graphic Designer for a company out in Jerome (Twin Falls) ID that produces dairy magazine's (hence the cow reference). That is about 3 hours from Rexburg. Which means that we will be selling our brand new townhome and moving! Well eventually. Kevin will be living with his brother Jeffrey until we sell and i find a good job out there. We don't know how long that is going to take, but we hope and pray that everything works out for the best. So this will be just like when we were dating/engaged...only seeing eachother on the weekends. It's not the ideal situation, but the only one that will work.

Rexburg Temple

We have a friend, Laura, who is on a mission right now and so i've been telling her i'd take pictures of the Rexburg Temple for her. So i thought i'd share then with you too.

Glass above the front doors of the temple.

Side windows

Hay "cubes" that are right across the street from the temple. They are literally about 6 feet long and about 3 to 4 feet tall. They are HUGE!

Beautiful sunset looking back down the hill from the temple.

forgot one...

I forgot one picture.

We had to put signs up so Alex & Taryn and Jeff & Barbara could find us. 'B' for Brown and a picture of "The colonel", our owl. So our camp was "b-owl" (sounds like: bowel). LOL.

Camping Pictures

Here are pictures as promised. NONE of me...thank goodness! :) I don't have any pictures from tubing, since i was on a tube and wouldn't take my camera with me on the water. My father-in-law took pictures from the shore. I'll have to get them from him.

* These are in NO paticular order...

Some racoons we saw Sunday morning on a hike down to the river.

Karter ready to play some baseball.

Kevin & Jeff getting across the river to a little island, where they caught a frog.

Kevin soaking his feet in the river. It was freezing, but once you went numb it was OK.

Kevin sitting by the fire.

Lynn & Charlee. Like father like daughter (no smiles).

Charlee loved to just take off and walk down the road.

Jeff helping Karter across the rocks.

Jeff giving Karter a lift.

Karter LOVED climbing on the rocks. Don't worry he was not alone.
There were 5 of us in reach of him.

Karter loves riding in the bike cart.

Barbara who is prego with #2. You can barely tell she is prego and she only has 2.5 months left.

This butterfly was just chilln' in Charlee's diaper bag.

Charlee DID NOT like the bike cart!

Nor did she like trying on the bike helmet.

Charlee's dirty face after lunch on Sunday.

camping...

This weekend we did some Brown Family Camping. Always an adventure, but it was lots of fun. It was a nice little get away. We did some hiking and we went tubing down "warm river". It's a river over by Mesa Falls and it's supposed to be 52 degrees year around. Tubing is a BLAST! We need to do it more often! We wanted to camp there, at warm river, but they were FULL by wednesday night. So we went up to Box Canyon camp grounds in Island Park. It was a nice, clean, quiet spot. I'll have pictures after lunch.

lost but now found

So the week of July 17-21 was a CRAZY week for me. TONS of events. Well friday afternoon i run back to the office before heading back up to campus for another event and i LOST my sunglasses. I was devastated. I love my Oakley glasses. Well for the past almost 2 weeks i've been wearing a pair of "borrowed" glasses from the Alumni Office. Someone left their's here and so i have been using those. I FOUND MY GLASSES THIS MORNING! Where? ...on my desk that i thought i had throughly checked about a billion times. They were hiding behind my desk phone that is on a raise platform thingy. WOO HOO! I am SO stinkin' excited. I seriously did a dance of joy! If we could only find Kevin's now. He lost his Oakley's about a week or two before i did.

Last night Taryn & I were hanging out, supposed to be doing some scrapbooking, but instead we mainly organized our stuff and then watched a movie. Well i found two little cartoon/picture things i used to have hanging in my cube at WHV. Well i thought i'd post them for your viewing pleasure.

Chukars baseball

Last night we went to Idaho Falls for a Chukar's baseball game. It was BYU-Idaho Alumni night. It was also no alcohol night too. Well we did an Alumni tailgate party before the game. We only had about 60 people show up, but it was fun. Here is a picture of Kevin cooking some hot dogs with John (a guy i work with).

We gave out 300 tickets to Alumni that wanted to go and we sold another hundred tickets. So out of the 400 tickets 363 were used! WOW! that is awesome!!! Our grill is pretty awesome. It's about 5 feet long by 2.5 feet wide. You can fit a lot of hot dogs and hamburgers on there!

Quick Update

So Thursday i was supposed to take the Fowler's family pictures, but due to laundry not getting done, pictures did not happen. But we did hang out a while before Kevin got home from work and we went to dinner. We had a great time hanging out and chatting. I really wish we lived closer together.

Friday was another day of work and then Kevin and I jumped in the car and drive to Utah to spend the night with Lynn & Shauna. Saturday we went to Lagoon for BYU-Idaho/Ricks College Alumni Day. We planned for 1000 but only about 1/2 that showed. But it went really well though and it was a manageable size. We didn't ride rides we just left after cleaning up and went back to Lynn & Shauna's. We then headed to IKEA. Walked around there and ran into some friends we knew from Alhambra. Which was nice to say hello to them. Then we went to dinner and back to L&S's place. We played a karaoke PS2 game and Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) PS2 game. It was TOTALLY FUN!!!! I didn't realize they made those for PS2. I wouldn't mind getting those, because we loved them.

Sunday we went to church, ate a great lunch that Shauna prepared (Hawaiian Haystacks) and then we stopped over at the Mazuran's for a few hours. They only live one off-ramp from each other. Pretty dang cool. It was SO fun to hang out with them, though we totally made the kids starve because we showed up late. We need to make more trips down there. Man i miss them. I can't believe how BIG the kids are. Max is SO tall and skinny! Sarah said he is about a head taller then all the kids in his class. I wouldn't be surprised. Sam is adorable. Lilly is just too cute! She looks just like Sarah. She is about 2 months old and is starting to wear 3-6 month clothes. She is weighing in at about 14 pounds.

So i didn't get any pictures taken when we were with Lynn & Shauna, or the Mazuran's. But i did get a pic of Brody and one of Kate & I.

Is he not the cutest! Here is Kate & I. I look horrible!!! Wind blown hair, HUGE cheesey grin. Yikes. LOL.

dinner with friends (practically family)

To make a long story short, i work with a lady named Gracie, she is married to Kate's father's cousin. LOL. Gracie invited me to a family dinner that was happening last night. I AM SO GLAD I WENT! It was so much fun to see the Leseberg family again. It seems like forever ago that i saw them. We got to the dinner at 6pm, i didn't leave to come home till about 10pm! I had a blast chatting with Kate, Sarah, and Laura. Poor Kevin and Bob (Sarah's husband) just sat quietly listening to us jabber (Brent chased after Brody all night). Then Kate, Laura & I went to "Big J's" and had a milkshake, which was SO YUMMY! I need to take Kevin over there.

I am taking off right now to go home and pick up the house before Kate, Brent & Brody come over. I am going to ATTEMPT to take their family photos. We'll see how it goes. I am SO looking forward to hanging out with Kate some more. It's been WAY TOO LONG.

Anniversary

We celebrated our 7th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY on Sunday. I can't believe we have been married 7 years (July 22, 2000 in the Idaho Falls Temple). The time has sure flown by! This is a really bad scan of a picture but it's all i have at work right now. Maybe i'll find some better ones tonight and get those up tomorrow. We look so young! I guess i was 22. WOW!
